Using Your Own ElevenLabs Voices in Oteria

You do not need your own ElevenLabs account to rehearse with Oteria's curated voices. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) is an optional way to connect an existing, eligible ElevenLabs account and use voices from its library. It is not an extra Oteria subscription.

Start with the curated voices

With approved Oteria access, choose voices for the other characters and run a short exchange. You can use the included library without handling an API key. Oteria currently follows English dialogue.

Connect a library you already use

If your account allows it, open Account and connect an ElevenLabs API key with permission to list voices and generate speech. Available voices from that library appear in scene setup under Your voices. You can disconnect the key from Account when you no longer want to use it. Students with school-managed access work with the voices prepared for their assigned scenes.

Use BYOK only if you meet ElevenLabs' account requirements and are authorised to use that account and its voices. Custom or cloned voices require the appropriate consent and permission. Oteria access does not grant permission to use somebody else's voice or account.

How is usage counted?

Voices selected from your personal library use your ElevenLabs account and credits, subject to its plan, permissions and limits. Oteria's included voices still count towards your Oteria usage limit. Connecting a key does not move every voice onto your account.

ElevenLabs may charge for usage under its own plan. Oteria's script-preparation credits and text-length limits still apply. Replaying partner audio already saved in this browser does not use more voice credits; creating or replacing audio does.

Check before running the scene

Compare the imported dialogue with your original script, choose your character and assign voices to the other roles. Test a short exchange before a full rehearsal. If a personal voice is unavailable, check the key permissions, the voice's availability and the account's remaining credits, or choose an included voice.
